Fix a blinker that is dark or hyper-flashing

A turn signal that blinks twice as fast usually means that corner’s bulb is out — the flasher is telling on you. Rear access is often through the trunk liner. LED upgrades without a resistor hyper-flash on purpose. Match the bulb number stamped on the old glass.

Safety

Let the lamp cool.
If the socket is melted, stop — that is a housing or ground, not another bulb.

Steps · beginner-friendly

Hazard lights on. Walk around. Note which corner is dark or dim.
Open the trunk or hood. Remove the access cover or the two nuts holding the lamp.
Twist the socket, pull the bulb, compare the number on the metal base.
New bulb in, seated, twist lock. Test before you button the liner.
If it still hyper-flashes with a good bulb, look at the ground and the opposite side. If you installed LEDs, you need the load the car expects.

How to replace turn signal bulb car trunk access

Blinker access is model-specific. Search your year/make/model plus “turn signal bulb” — we will not invent a Civic-only ID as if it were universal.

If you are not DIY · say this instead

The [left rear] turn signal is out or hyper-flashing. Please replace the bulb and check the socket. I do not want a new lamp unless the socket is melted.

Ask bulb vs housing. Hyper-flash after an LED upgrade is a load issue, not a failed module by default.

Replace a headlight bulb
A dark headlight is usually a bulb, not a whole lamp. Access is from the engine bay or a fender liner. Do not touch halogen glass with bare fingers — oil makes a hot spot and the new bulb dies early. Sealed LED assemblies are a different, expensive job.
