A weak 12-volt battery is a click or a slow crank. The counter will ask for the group size and whether it is top-post or side-post. An EV still has this battery.
Do not throw an alternator from a slow crank until someone measured cranking voltage and charging voltage.
DIY
If you can get the hold-down off and you register the new battery when the car requires it, this is a driveway job. Memory savers are optional.
